2025 White Coat Ceremony

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences held its annual White Coat Ceremony on September 17, 2025 at Redpath Hall. It is both a celebration and a rite of passage -it welcomes third year dental students into the professional community and emphasizes the moral and ethical responsibilities that come with wearing the white coat.

This year’s event featured keynote speaker Dr. Stéphanie Morneau, dentist-consultant for Quebec's Ministry of Health and Social Services.

In her speech, Dean Elham Emami told students that the most obvious realities are often the hardest to see, and the easiest to forget. She encouraged the students to not lose sight of their goal of becoming skilled and compassionate dentists as they manage student life, family and friends, new challenges, and distractions. "Don't be afraid of taking on responsibility: it is natural, and it can become your greatest ally. Welcome it with courage, and let it be the driving force that guides you towards excellence."

She presented Dr. Nathalie Morin, Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of her professionalism, unwavering commitment to student success, and leadership, following Dr. Morin’s announcement of her retirement in spring 2027.
