Program Requirements
The professional development certificate program is designed for mid-level parliamentary staff who have the potential to reach the highest levels of parliamentary management. The curriculum is based on international best practices focusing on their application to parliamentary settings within different political systems and cultures. Combining theory and practice, the program uses a blended learning methodology of face-to-face and online courses. By equipping parliamentary staff to become the 'corporate memory' of parliament, the program helps build the legislatures of tomorrow.
This program is offered in English and must be completed within 2 years.

CBUS 244 Current Trends in Parliamentary Administration (3 CE units)
Overview
Business : This course provides an overview of democratic principles, core functions of parliament, parliamentary procedures and practices, as well as current trends and issues in parlimentary administration. Each participant will be assigned a mentor, who will be available for consultation and guidance throughout the entire program.
Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2017-2018 academic year.

CBUS 245 Corporate Management of Parliament 1 (3 CE units)
Overview
Business : This course focuses on general concepts of good corporate governance and their applicability to parliament, and the role of key stakeholders. Emphasis is placed on the management of human and financial resources in a parliamentary setting and the importance of strong interrelationships.

Overview
Business : This course focuses on the importance of developing a coordinated approach to planning and public outreach in order to meet both parliamentary corporate needs and public expectations. The effectiveness of various performance assessment tools will also be reviewed in the context of reporting, surveying, and benchmarking.
